What is
Tragedy Seminar?
It’s all about the Laughs
Life is too short. We’re all gonna die. Here at Tragedy Seminar, we embrace our mortality and choose to laugh at it. While our material is not always tragic in nature, we hope to offer our audiences some escape from this beautifully hellacious space rock we are all stuck on, flying through eternity, hoping for a glimpse of joy in all the darkness.
Tragedy Seminar began as an ongoing monthly comedy show in New York City at Revision Lounge as a showcase-style show featuring up-and-coming comings performing 15-20 minute sets. The overwhelmingly positive feedback about the quality of the Tragedy Seminar shows, both in production and talent, has inspired us to expand our outreach via Pop-Up Shows. Check out our mugs here:
Ellen Doyle
Producer | Comedian | Host
Ellen Doyle has toured all over the United States at clubs, festivals, bars, coffee shops, open fields (Thanks Covid), living rooms, and public bathrooms across America’s heartland. She has been in The SLO Comedy Festival, The World Series of Comedy top 50, North Carolina Comedy Festival, Sno Jam Comedy Festival, Mutiny Radio Comedy Festival, Paul Bunyon Comedy Festival, The Hollywood, Scranton, and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.
Ellen’s comedy ride is one not to miss. Her humor is autobiographical and told with the lovable bitterness of an east coaster. With topics ranging from her family to being jealous of the wrong things as a child, she tells jokes with a take no prisoners approach. Sarcastic, dark, unapologetic, yet insanely charming, Ellen says what she thinks although most of those thoughts should probably be kept to herself.
Ellen has a dog named Ghost. Ghost was featured on Animal Planet’s “Rescue Dog to Super Dog”. Yes, The DOG is TV Famous!
Ellen’s Comedy has been described as: “A special kind of twisted”- Drunk Patron in Michigan
“You remind me of my friend’s abusive mother” - Aspiring College Student
“The reason I worry about you”- Her Father
